Cyclone Dana is heading towards the Odisha - West Bengal coast and it is likely to make landfall on October 25. The IMD has also issued heavy rainfall alerts in the region. The landfall is expected between Thursday late night and Friday early morning, between Bhitarkanika and Dhamara in northern Odisha, which is around 350 km from Kolkata. As a safety measure, the Kolkata airport will remain closed from 6 pm on October 24 to 9 am on October 25. The Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneshwar has also suspended its operations from 5 pm today to 9 am on October 25. Various airlines have also announced that their services in the region are cancelled during the period. Air India said on X, "All Air India flights to and from Kolkata are cancelled during this period. If your flight has been rescheduled, please click here to select an alternate option. For assistance with cancelled flights, please call our 24/7 Contact Centre at 01169329333 / 01169329999."

Indigo said, "If your flight is impacted, please visit here to opt for a refund or an alternate flight. We are closely monitoring the situation and remain committed to keeping you informed with any further updates." The airline also asked flyers to plan their travel accordingly as roads may be waterlogged. 

Trains cancelled due to Cyclone Dana
The various railway divisions are also continuing to cancel services. The South East Central Railway zone has cancelled 14 trains. LTT-Puri Express, Durg-Puri Express, Brahmapur-Surat Express, Puri-Durg Express, Puri-Ajmer Express, Puri-Ahmedabad Express and Puri-Rishikesh Express are some of the trains cancelled for today.

The Visakhapatnam-Amritsar Hirakud Express and Puri-Nizamuddin Express will remain cancelled on October 25. The Eastern Railway has cancelled a total of 61 trains over the Howrah division on October 25.
