At a time when tensions are rising in the Middle East, with Tel Aviv going after Hezbollah and Iran firing around 200 missiles at Israel, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indians to avoid travelling to Iran. Many airlines have also cancelled flights to the region. Here are a few pointers from the advisory:
1) Indian nationals in Iran should remain in contact with the Indian Embassy and be informed of its updates.
2) Avoid non-essential travel to Iran.
3) A 24/7 helpline is set up for Indian citizens in Iran for immediate assistance. The emergency contact numbers are +972-547520711, +972-543278392. The Indian nationals can also contact via cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in for assistance.

Other pointers to remember
1) Many airlines are changing schedules, rerouting flights, and even cancelling services whenever necessary, prioritising safety. Be updated on airline alerts so that your travel plans are not disrupted.
2) Airfares in the region have also surged, and industry experts predict further increases in ticket prices. Plan your journeys keeping this factor in mind.
3) A week ago, the Indian Embassy in Lebanon's Beirut issued an advisory for Indian nationals in the region, urging them to exercise caution, restrict movements, and remain in contact with the Indian Embassy. It also urged nationals against travelling to the country until further notice.
