The State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced a new design for its FASTag, aimed at reducing passengers' travel time. The updated design applies to the vehicle class category and is intended to speed up vehicle identification and make toll collection more efficient. This improvement is expected to reduce the travel time for millions across India.
What is SBI FASTag?
SBI FASTag is a device that uses radio frequency technology to enable toll payments directly or via a prepaid account linked to a bank. With the tag installed on the vehicle's windshield, there is no need to stop at toll plazas for payments. The tag can be purchased from authorised agencies. However, if it is linked to a prepaid account, it needs to be recharged based on usage.
The new FASTag design is specifically for Class 4 vehicles, such as cars, jeeps, and vans. This redesign aims to streamline the toll collection process and further reduce travel time.
Who can use SBI FASTag?
The new FASTag design, intended for Class 4 vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans, offers several benefits, such as easier vehicle identification and preventing incorrect toll charges. Moreover, it enables smooth toll payments, eliminating the need to stop at toll plazas and thus saving travel time.
