Southwest monsoon in Kerala: Munnar Gap Road, Kakkayam Tourism Centre closed

Following heavy rains across Kerala, various tourism centres and roads will remain closed today. An Orange alert is in place today for Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Meanwhile, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad are on a Yellow Alert. Here are the latest updates on restrictions and closures in various places:
1) On the Kochi - Dhanushkodi NH, the Munnar Gap Road has been completely closed. A night travel ban is also in place in Idukki district since yesterday.
2) Restrictions are in place on beaches across the state. Muzhappilangad Beach was closed a week ago. 
3) Ezharakund Waterfalls near Thalassery is closed due to heavy water flow.
4) Following heavy rains, The Kolukkumalai jeep safari in Idukki was not conducted this morning.
5) The Kakkayam eco-tourism centre in Kozhikode - reopened only last month after a three-month closure - was closed this morning. 
6) In Idukki, all water activities, including boating, kayaking, rafting, and coracle boating, are banned. Trekking is also prohibited in areas of the district with landslide warnings.
