These and other instructions issued by the CMD are part of the KSRTC's efforts to maximise ticket collection by treating the 'customer as the boss'.

The CMD has instructed drivers to stop for people waving at a bus (including Swift-Super Fast) 'anywhere' and 'at any time', provided seats are available.

Even a small sum is important as ticket collection is the main source of income for the corporation which is in a deep financial crisis, says the CMD's note issued to all units of the KSRTC.

Other notable instructions:

  • The conductor must assist the elderly, children, the differently abled and those struggling to enter and exit a bus.
  • Buses should only stop at hotels that have clean toilet facilities for both men and women. The schedule comprising the location and timing of such halts must be displayed.
  • Drivers and conductors (except women) should be assigned work only after a breathalyzer test.
  • Bus drivers should be considerate of pedestrians and other vehicles on the road because every life is precious.
