Work on the luxury fan village for accommodating visitors arriving to watch the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar is progressing fast at Al Khor. Fan village is a unique stay option of the Qatar World Cup and the inauguration at Al Khor is planned on October 15 this year. The World Cup is scheduled to kick off on November 20.

The fan village, also known as Al Khor camp, is a 40-minute drive from Doha and a mere 5.5 km away from Al Bayt Stadium, which would host the inaugural match of the World Cup.

“Guests can reach the village by Lusail Metro and Karwa buses, among other transportation facilities,” said Khalid Al Suwaidi, director of partner relations with the local organisers, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.

Apart from Al Khor, fan villages would be located at Al Wakrah, Ras Bufontas free zone, Zafran in Lusail City North and Rawdat Al Jahhaniya in Al Rayyan.

Facilities

There will be 202 luxury rooms in the Bedouin tents at Al Khor fan village which could accommodate up to 500 guests. Each room in the tents provides privacy and has five-star facilities such as Wi-Fi, smart TV, refrigerator, coffee-tea makers, bathrooms and laundry. Round-the-clock front desk and foolproof security arrangements are also ensured.

Fun zone

Guests at the fan village can relish Qatari cuisine at the 15 kiosks in the fun zone. A giant screen will also be installed for enjoying the matches live.

People staying in the fan village can also spend time at the games area during free time. Tennis, basketball, paddle court, gym, health club, grill area, parking and swimming pool are among the facilities.

Moreover, special entertainment programmes and shows would be staged every day. Football fans can also visit the Ferkiah beach, which is very near Al Khor fan village.

Tariff

The tariff per person for a night’s stay at Al Khor fan village starts at 1,512 Qatari riyals, which is 423.69 US dollars or Rs 32,946!
