Tea masters pouring piping hot tea from one tumbler held above their head into another held as low as their knees was a common sight in the local tea shops in the villages. This process in fact improves the flavour of the tea and makes it frothy as well. Prakashan’s special strong tea that falls from one and half meters above is the highlight of the Seethal Coffee House near Anjuvilakku at Nayarangadi in Thrissur town.

This refreshing tea is a staple for the labourers in the market. Prakashan, a native of Mattathur Vellikulangara, says his regular customers are slowly returning to enjoy his tea. He has been running this tea shop for the last 8 years. However, Prakashan cannot forget the struggle when the tea shop had to be closed down for two months due to the lockdown.

Before starting his own tea shop, Prakashan worked in another shop for around 34 years. He began his own business using the utensils and other things that the owner of the previous shop gave him.
