Kerala's first Tejas Express to run on Mangaluru-Coimbatore route

Kozhikode: In a good news for train passengers in Kerala, the first Tejas Express to ply through the state is all set to start service between Mangaluru in Karnataka and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. Tejas is a semi-high speed service introduced as part of the privatization of the Indian Railways and the Mangaluru-Coimbatore train will run on all days, except Mondays. It has its only stop in Kerala at Kozhikode
Details of the train are available in the Railway website but the ticket fares have not been finalized. It may be recalled that the fare on the Lucknow-Delhi route of Tejas Express is Rs 2,400. Incidentally, no concessions are available on Tejas trains and additional charges levied for extra services.
The Tejas would be an inter-city service, departing from Mangaluru at 6am and arriving at Coimbatore at 12.10pm. The return trip will start from Coimbatore at 2.30pm and reach Mangaluru by 8.40pm. On the way to Mangaluru, the train will touch Kozhikode at 4.50pm, providing a convenient travel option for residents of the city.
