Thailand introduces destination visa for remote workers and digital nomads

Bangkok: Thailand has rolled out the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) to promote the country’s tourism. This would be beneficial for remote workers and freelancers who mostly work online. The multiple entry visa that has a validity of five years allows the holder to stay in the country for up to 180 days per year, with the option to extend for another 180 days.
Features of the Destination Thailand Visa
1) Long-term stay – Unlike regular tourist visas, DTV holders can stay in the country for up to five years.
2) Multiple entry – The multiple entry visa allows you to travel to your home country and back during the period of validity.
3) Affordable rate – Compared to similar visas in the southeastern region, DTV is cheaper and has lower income requirements.
4) Family – Visa holders can bring their spouses and children under 20.
5) Tax benefits – There is no need to pay tax for income from foreign sources while living in Thailand.

8) There should be enough funds in the account to pay for the visa
9) The applicant must show at least 500,000 THB as bank balance to support their stay in the country
