Good news awaits those who want to shrug off the monotony of lockdown and hit the road. One can hop on the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus plying on the picturesque Chalakudy-Malakkappara route and savour the different hues of nature. The state-owned transport corporation’s initiative to start a one-day bus ride on the route to woo tourists is a big hit among travellers.
Though there are bus services on the Malakkappara route on all days, the Chalakudy KSRTC depot is now plying bus on the stretch as a special service on holidays considering the demand for tickets. Initially there was only one bus service on the route but due to increasing footfall the number of daily services had been increased to six, said the authorities concerned.
The bus service would start from Chalakudy bus station at 8.30am on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. All travellers above the age of five have to take tickets for the bus ride, and the round ticket fare is Rs 204 per person. The bus would halt at all the tourist spots on the way and the travellers would also have the opportunity to take snaps at these serene places.
The bus would have stops at Athirappilly viewpoint, Charpa waterfalls viewpoint, Peringalkuthu dam reservoir viewpoint, Anakkayam bridge, Sholayar dam, Nellikunnu viewpoint and Malakkappara tea estate.
The bus would return to Chalakudy at 7pm. Though the bus tickets for the trip would be issued from 7.30am, it is better to reserve the tickets beforehand.
