Among the greatest cricket players the world has ever seen, Sachin Tendulkar is a colossus in the Indian sporting scene. He broke all possible records before retiring from cricket. During the speech he delivered in front of thousands of fans on his last match, Sachin said that he wished to spend more time with family after his playing days. The former cricketer is now realising his wish.

Sachin has toured the world for playing matches and official purposes, but it seems that none of those journeys was as enjoyable as the trips he is undertaking now. The pictures posted by Sachin on Instagram show his visit to Bhutan along with his wife. Sachin is seen enjoying every moment of the trip.

Bhutan is a land of dream locations. Attractions include the Dochula Pass which is on the way to Punakha from the Bhutanese capital Thimphu. The Pass attracts numerous visitors who are amazed by Druk Wangyal Chortens, a place where 108 memorial pillars (stupas) can be seen. These pillars are part of the first botanical garden in Bhutan.

Another attraction of the place is a monastery. The Pass is located high up in the Himalayas and is covered by snow. The beauty of the place is indescribable. At an altitude of 3,100 metres above sea level, stunning views of the Himalayas are available from the Pass. This makes the spot a must-see destination for all visitors to Bhutan. Sachin, who has shared pictures of his Bhutan visit with the title 'Bhutan Diaries,' has included an image of posing near Rhododendron flowers.

The world's biggest Buddha statue can be seen at Dordenma in Bhutan. It is 169 ft. in height and made of bronze. It was inaugurated on the 60th birthday of Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who was the king of Bhutan. A massive statue, the Buddha is surrounded by a park extending to 943.4 acres, including a forest. The area presents a fine example of conserving nature. Sachin has posted a beautiful selfie in front of the Buddha statue.

There are several Buddha temples in Bhutan and all of them offer interesting sights to travellers. In addition, numerous monasteries can be seen in the country. Sachin is posing on the steps of a Buddha temple in one picture. He has commented below the picture: “Reminded me of the stairs I took when coming down to bat.” This brings memories of the numerous fantastic innings Sachin has played, pleasing his fans.

In another photo, Sachin is seen with his wife near the lighted lamps at a Buddhist monastery. He smiles beautifully, probably making up for the several trips that he planned with his wife during his playing days, but had to cancel to fulfil his work commitments.

Photography and cameras are banned at several locations in Bhutan. Only a visit to these places will give the traveller a chance to see and experience them. A trip to Bhutan is almost similar to a journey to heaven with the beautiful forest areas, numerous small waterfalls, the snow-clad scenery etc.

Travellers to the Himalayan country can also plan to visit other stunning locales like Chukka Buddha temple, several forts and Ta Dzong, a world famous history museum, among others.
