Pichavaram is 13 km away from the famous Nataraja temple in Chidambaram. It is a marshy land where mangroves are grown in abundance. Like a smooth flowing brook, the mangrove forest and the water path in between too are spread out into many tributaries. Boating is arranged for those who wish to experience the beauty of the mangrove in its full glory. This place is truly a paradise for bird watchers, as it is home to some rare avian species, both migratory and local. The aquatic life here Is rich too.

The Tamil Nadu government has declared the mangrove forests a protected site. The inherent charm of the place must not get lost in the name of development. The water path between the thick mangrove forests gets too deep during high tides, so it is safe to walk through it or to enjoy a relaxing boat ride.

Lal Jose’s Instagramm video, which became viral on the social media, will surely have excited many travel enthusiasts to plan their next trip to the beautiful mangrove forests at Pichavaram.
