The legendary music composer praised the musical talent of Malayalis.
The biopic, which remains untitled, is directed by Arun Matheswaran and stars Dhanush in the lead role.
In the notice, Ilaiyaraaja claimed that the teaser of Coolie had a rendition of his song 'Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa' from the film 'Thanga Magan', also starring Rajinikanth.
'Ilaiyaraaja' will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages.
It has been revealed that the shooting will commence next year and will be released in 2025.
Speculation has been rife in the film industry if Ilaiyaraaja is scoring the music for Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth's next.
The first track, 'How To Name It?' in the album is immensely popular and was featured as a part of the background score of the National Award-winning Tamil film 'Veedu', released in 1988.
The film, which is being bankrolled by UK-based production house 5 Natures Movies International, will feature debutants Krish and Matylda in the lead.
Veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja sent a legal notice to renowned singer SPB back in March 2017 seeking royalty for his songs to sing on stage.
"Your mistakes are the best teacher in your life," advised the legendary musician.
