Hello
On Thursday, moments after winning a maiden gold medal in mixed doubles at the continental showpiece, the veteran India squash player called on all the mothers to overcome the feeling of guilt and take time off to follow their dreams.
Dipika and Harinder eked out an 11-10, 11-10 win over Malaysian duo of Aifa Binti Azman and Mohammad Syafiq Bin Mohd Kamal in a tense 35-minute final.
However, it was heartbreak for the second Indian pair of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh as they lost to Aifa Binti Azman and Mohammad Syafiq Bin Mohd Kamal of Malaysia to end up with bronze medal.
Sourav Ghosal as well as the mixed doubles pairs of Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh and Dipika Pallikal-Harindar Pal Singh Sidhu advanced to the semifinals.
The hero of the day was Abhay Singh, who kept his composure and raised his game to get the better of Noor Zaman 3-2 in a seesaw decider, in which the 25-year-old Indian saved two gold medal points to emerge triumphant and throw his racquet in the air.
The trio of veteran Joshna Chinappa, Anahat Singh and Tanvi Khanna went down 1-2 to Hong Kong.
India ended their campaign at the Asian Squash Mixed Doubles Championships with two medals as Anahat Singh-Abhay Singh pair secured a bronze.
Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu were knocked out in the round of 16.
Ghosal beat home favourite James Willstrop in the play-off match.
Dipika first clinched the mixed doubles title with Ghosal beating England's Adrian Waller and Alison Waters. Dipika and Joshna triumphed in the women's doubles after an 11-9, 4-11, 11-8 win over England's Sarah Jane Perry and Waters.
