Hello
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Tuesday that Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair is among the pilots undergoing training for the Gaganyaan mission.
Mission Commander Prashanth B Nair is from Vithanassery in Nenmara. NIN scientist Dr ER Nandeep is also from the same village.
His English teacher in Class IX and Class X, Giribala Menon, says Prasanth was always the class topper.
The four astronauts were selected from a team of 60 ace pilots in 2020.
From breakfast options like idli or upma to dinner choices such as chicken korma and chapati, the astronauts aboard the Gaganyaan mission spaceflight will enjoy a taste of home even in space.
The Test Vehicle mission with this Crew Module is a significant milestone for the overall Gaganyaan programme as a nearly complete system is integrated for a flight test.
The objective of Gaganyaan programme is to demonstrate the capability to send humans to low earth orbit (LEO) onboard an Indian rocket and bring them back to earth safely.
ISRO officials said the first and second waves of the pandemic have "severely affected" the Gaganyaan programme.
The flight surgeons are doctors from the Indian Air Force who have specialised in aerospace medicine.
As per the mandate of Gaganyaan, two uncrewed missions would be undertaken prior to the manned mission.
