Sreekala R will lead the Indian women’s team in the 3rd South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) qualifiers, which will be played in New Delhi from February 23 to 27.

Two other Malayalis, Aneesha Cleetus and Susan Florentina, are part of the women’s squad. All three players represent the Kerala State Electricity Board.

Meanwhile, the Indian men’s squad for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers comprises Keralite Pranav Prince. Thiruvananthapuram native Pranav represents Tamil Nadu in national championships.

The Indian men’s team play against Iran on February 21 and Qatar on February 24. Last November, India made history by ending a 16-game losing streak in FIBA (International Basketball Federation) competitions. Pranav was the star of the show as India defeated Kazakhstan, 88-69, in an Asia Cup qualifier in Chennai.
