Besides being the world no. 3, Nakamura is a popular YouTuber with 2.67 million subscribers. He is credited with promoting chess by analysing leading games and creating informative videos.
Nakamura posts his weekly streaming schedule, marking the topic and the time it will be published. Usually, he lists Eastern US and Central Europe timings, but this time, he added the Indian Standard Time.
"Added India out of respect," posted Nakamura. The update from the American GM is seen as a recognition of Gukesh's achievement, which has propelled India onto the global chess stage.
Gukesh defeated China's Ding Liren in the World Chess Championship match in Singapore to become the youngest champion. He is only the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to attain the world title. Nakamura's gesture won the hearts of Indian fans, who showed their gratitude under his post.
