India's fastest bike rider in the Dakar Rally has spoken about the start of his recovery since the crash in the prologue stage of the ongoing edition in Saudi Arabia.

"How much ever I want to change what happened, I cannot and no one else can. I am here now and will move forward and upward," posted Harith on Instagram. The Keralite also shared a series of images since his hospitalisation for surgery on his wrist that was fractured in the accident last week.

Shoranur native Harith is the first Indian to win the Dakar Rally, which is considered the toughest cross-country rally. He had finished 20th in 2021 but then suffered a serious injury, a fracture of the fifth thoracic vertebrae (T5) of his spine. "A very worrying crash that could have had terrible consequences," Dakar organisers said at the time.

However, Harith made a remarkable comeback to win last year's Rally 2. His post about the latest setback has received overwhelming response from fans and well-wishers. "Heal up soon and kill it again. Champions are the ones who take it all, and you're one. Keep digging full power, brother," posted Aravind KP, the second Indian to compete in the Dakar Rally after C S Santosh.
