Mohun Bagan Super Giant edged Kerala Blasters 4-3 in a thrilling Indian Super League match here on Wednesday.
Six of the seven goals were scored in the second half. Even though the Blasters managed to equalise twice after Sadiku had put the visitors ahead in the 4th minute, it wasn't enough for Ivan Vukomanovic's side.
Armando Sadiku scored a brace for the visitors, including the opener in the 4th minute. Dimitrios Diamantakos too added a brace, the second in the dying seconds of the match.
But after Jason Cummings had scored from a counter to make it 4-2 in the final minute of added eight minutes at the end of 90, the Blasters were looking at a certain defeat.
The Blasters will have to wait for their opportunity to make the playoffs while Mohun Bagan SG have already booked their berth.
Deepak Tangri has scored to put Mohun Bagan Super Giant 3-2 ahead against Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League here on Wednesday.
Albanian striker Sadiku had put the visitors ahead in the 4th minute and then on 60 minutes. But the Blasters equalised, first through Vibin Mohanan in the 55th minute and Dimitrios Diamantakos in the 63rd minute.
Just as when the home side was finding its way back into the game, Tangri scored from a free header off a corner to give the visitors a lead, for the third time in the match, in the 69th minute.
The Blasters' striker Diamantakos had outmuscled his markers to put the hosts on level terms to lift the spirits in the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.
Just three minute before Diamantakos made it 2-2, Sadiku found space and time outside the box to fire in a half-volley past Karanjit Singh.
The home crowd had been reenergised by local boy Vibin, who stepped up to score his maiden ISL goal in some style. The 21-year-old midfielder gracefully passed it into the net after a neat exchange with Rahul K P.
Sadiku's opener was enabled by an overzealous Pritam Kotal. The Blasters defender went charging and missed the ball, but Sadiku was composed and drove it into the far bottom corner of Karanjit Singh's goal.
