Three Indians have been named in ICC Men's Test Team of the Year 2024 that has Australia's Pat Cummins as captain. India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal find a place in the XI published Friday. No Indian found a place in the ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year 2024 that was released earlier.
There was no surprise finding Bumrah in the Test Team of 2024 considering he claimed an incredible 71 wickets, the highest in the format last year, at an average of 14.92. Bumrah was exceptional in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where his performances that included 32 wickets stood out despite India losing 1-3 to Australia.
Jadeja took 48 wickets and scored 527 runs to remain India's best all-rounder in Tests, while Jaiswal was undoubtedly India's best Test batter in 2024. The 23-year-old amassed 712 runs in a home series against England, where he scored two double centuries.
Jaiswal was the lone bright spot of Indian batting in a 3-0 home whitewash at the hands of New Zealand. He also impressed with a century in Perth in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Jaiswal collected 1,478 runs at an average of 54.74, which was only second-best to Englishman Joe Root's 1,556 (average of 55.57).
