To rediscover his form, India captain Rohit Sharma has joined the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team practice sessions. The 37-year-old was seen batting alongside Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit had a disastrous tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In addition to losing the series, 1-3, as skipper, the star batter could only manage 31 runs from three Test matches.

Rohit's poor run in Tests dates back to Bangladesh's visit in September last year and continued throughout the New Zealand series. Rohit only managed 164 runs from his previous 15 innings.

Rohit had attended a review meeting on Sunday with India head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. It is understood that Rohit was suggested to take a step back and find form in the domestic circuit before India set out for next month's Champions Trophy.

The Ranji Trophy season is set to resume on January 23, and Mumbai will play Jammu and Kashmir on the MCA-BKC ground. It is unclear if Rohit will feature in Mumbai's net match. He last played for the state side in 2015 against Uttar Pradesh.

Kohli, Pant in Delhi squad
Star Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been named among the probables in Delhi's Ranji Trophy squad.

Kohli's last appearance for Delhi came in 2012 and Pant last featured in the Ranji Trophy in 2017-18. Veteran cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri had suggested struggling batters Rohit and Kohli to play the domestic red-ball event to rediscover their form.

It is unclear if Kohli and Pant will feature for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy as a Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official said they star players were also among the probables at the start of the season.
