Sameer Rizvi scored one of the fastest double centuries in domestic cricket when he smashed an unbeaten 201 off just 97 deliveries for Uttar Pradesh against Tripura in a Men's U-23 State A Trophy match in Vadodara on Saturday.

The former Chennai Super Kings star hit 20 sixes and 13 boundaries at a strike rate of 207. Fifties from Shaurya Singh (51) and Adarsh Singh (52) also helped Uttar Pradesh to 405/4.  Tripura were restricted to 253/9 in 50 overs.

Right-hand batter Rizvi was secured for Rs 95 lakh by Delhi Capitals from the recent IPL Mega Auction in Jeddah. His base price was Rs 30 lakh. In the 2024 IPL auction, CSK made a stunning Rs 8.4 crore bid for Rizvi. But he failed to live up to the expectations, scoring just 51 runs in 8 innings.
