Kochi: Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi has been named the Manorama News Maker of 2024. He was selected for the award through an opinion poll conducted by Manorama News in association with KLM Axiva Finvest.

Reacting to the honour, Suresh Gopi expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the public, stating that the recognition was a testament to the love shown by people, unaffected by any negative propaganda. “My only wish is to be acknowledged as an individual,” he said.

During the announcement, which was telecast on Manorama News, football legend IM Vijayan declared the poll results. He attributed Suresh Gopi’s victory in Thrissur to his unwavering determination and hard work as a BJP leader. In return, Suresh Gopi congratulated IM Vijayan on receiving the Padma Award.

"I have always gladly accepted whatever blessings God has given me. I am content with everything and have always strived to overcome and forget any dissatisfaction," he said. He also shared his desire to return to the screen in another police drama, portraying a law enforcement officer who truly serves the people.

Apart from Suresh Gopi, the other nominees for the award included PV Anvar, Shafi Parambil, and PR Sreejesh. The winner was selected through an online poll conducted on ManoramaNews.com/NewsMaker. Writer K Rekha and Manorama News Director Johny Lukose were also present at the award announcement ceremony.
