Thiruvananthapuram: Sandeep Varier, who left the BJP and joined the Congress, has been appointed as a spokesperson for the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). KPCC President K Sudhakaran included Sandeep in the list of spokespersons. It has been indicated that Sandeep will be given more responsibilities during the reorganisation process, with this being the first step.

As part of the KPCC restructuring, Sandeep is being considered for the position of either KPCC General Secretary or Secretary.

Sandeep's entry into the Congress came as a shock to the BJP camp, especially ahead of the Palakkad byelection.  Previously, Sandeep was the face of the BJP in television debates. With his new role as a KPCC spokesperson, he will now represent the Congress in media discussions.
