Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress high command has sought the opinion of party leaders in Kerala regarding the demand for a leadership change in the state.

Deepa Dasmunsi, general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), met with selected leaders one-on-one on Sunday and Monday. She will submit a report to the high command, which is expected to include suggestions for bridging the differences between the senior leaders in Kerala.

Dasmunsi also attended the party's political affairs committee (PAC) meeting on both days, interacting with the leaders.

Ramesh Chennithala expressed his concerns over any move without taking the party's state president, K Sudhakaran, into confidence. He said that Sudhakaran should be consulted despite his health issues.

At the same time, Opposition Leader V D Satheesan reportedly told Dasmunsi that the high command should take a suitable decision considering Sudhakaran's limitations in operating based at Indira Bhavan, the party's state headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. Satheesan added that he had no personal differences with Sudhakaran or animosity towards him.

The other leaders who met Dasmunsi included M M Hassan, Benny Behanan, Sunny Joseph, M Liju, V S Sivakumar and Mathew Kuzhalnadan. Although most of them urged the high command to make a suitable decision, several leaders felt that the Opposition Leader should make efforts to lead the party unitedly along with the state chief of the Congress. Suggestions on revamping the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and District Congress Committees (DCCs) were also shared with Dasmunsi.
