Pathanamthitta: Two school students drowned in the Achankovil River on Sunday afternoon. The victims are Sreesharan and Abel, Class 10 students of Aryabharathi School, Omalloor.

The incident occurred after the students and three friends visited a nearby turf to play football. Following the game, Sreesharan, Abel, and two others entered the river for a bath but were swept away by the strong currents.

Despite immediate rescue attempts by their friends and locals, they could not save Sreesharan and Abel. A scuba team from the Pathanamthitta Fire and Rescue Service later recovered their bodies during a search operation.
