Thiruvananthapuram: One hundred women employees of the Secretariat will sing a group song praising Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday in his presence. The song eulogizes Vijayan as ‘Phoenix’ and ‘a general leading his troops in battle.’

The group song will be performed during the inaugural function of the golden jubilee building of the CPM-affiliated Kerala Secretariat Employees’ Association. The Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the building. The performance is taking place during the period of CPM party conferences.

Incidentally, a mega ‘thiruvathira’ dance event organised at Parassala in honour of Pinarayi during the CPM’s Thiruvananthapuram district conference three years ago had sparked a controversy as the party had always opposed personality cults.

The lyrics of the group song begin with the line, ‘Pinarayi Vijayan, the brave leader of struggles, is the general who fights along with his troops.’ The song also refers to Pinarayi as a ‘Phoenix who led a life full of sacrifices.’

The rough translation of a few lines are as follows:

Pinarayi Vijayan, the brave leader of struggles,

Is the general who fights alongside his troops.

Paddy fields, plots, and coconut groves are his battlegrounds,

Where he dismantled the feudal system and created workplaces.

His hands, which once cared for his father,

Who struggled to stave off hunger,

Now turn the wheels of power.

Under his leadership, this land overcame Corona and Nipah,

And he offered solace during calamities such as floods, rains, and landslides.

He also launched projects that benefit the people,

Securing their lives until their last breath.

The inaugural ceremony of the golden jubilee building is being organised by the Secretariat Association faction led by president P Honey. While Honey enjoys the support of the Chief Minister, the other faction does not.

“We are only planning to recite a poem written by a Secretariat employee about the Chief Minister. One hundred singers will perform,” said Honey.

Earlier, during the party event in Parassala, the ‘thiruvathira’ with around 500 women had praised Pinarayi as the ‘Karanabhoothan’  (creator), thanks to whom the party was ‘shining around the globe’ and a ‘brave comrade  who fought on, despite the torture he suffered at the hands of adversaries.’

A YouTube channel named ‘Kerala CM’ also released a song last year which began, ‘Pinarayi Vijayan is unconquerable in this land…’ and referred to him as a ‘horse tempered in fire’ and an ‘eagle who can fly in a cyclone.’
