Flex before Secretariat: How could they violate court order, asks HC

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has ordered disciplinary action against those responsible for installing an illegal board in front of the Secretariat. Justice Devan Ramachandran directed that action be taken against the officials involved, stating that they had violated a government order.
Amicus Curiae Harish Vasudevan raised the issue of the flex installation, prompting strong criticism from the court. "If government officials were involved, action must be taken. Failing to address these violations will undermine the moral responsibility of IAS officers. The world knows such an order exists—how did those who installed the flex dare to violate it?" the court remarked.
The Cantonment Police have filed charges against the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association (KSEA) for defying the High Court's ban and installing flex boards in front of the Secretariat. Later, the corporation authorities removed the board after facing resistance from the KSEA workers.
Additionally, the court also directed the district police chief to form a special team to investigate the matter and ordered the disclosure of the fine collected from those who installed the flex and requested the corporation to clarify the expenses incurred in removing it.
