Malappuram: Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil announced on Sunday that all Maveli Stores in Kerala will be upgraded into well-equipped supermarkets. He made the statement while inaugurating the new Supplyco supermarket at Elamkulam, Perinthalmanna.

“The government is committed to significantly improving Supplyco outlets. Since assuming office, we have inaugurated 113 stores, with Elamkulam being the latest. Despite financial challenges, no store has been shut down, and no worker has been laid off,” the minister stated.

Each month, approximately 30 to 40 lakh people benefit from subsidised goods at Supplyco stores, while 83 lakh families rely on ration shops for their monthly supplies. The minister highlighted Kerala's success in shielding its citizens from sharp price hikes, attributing the state's proactive measures to control inflation to an unprecedented level in India.
