Wayanad: After being out of the public eye and unreachable for more than 24 hours, IC Balakrishnan, MLA, clarified on Friday that he was not absconding. He explained that he had travelled to Karnataka to attend a friend's daughter's wedding. Balakrishnan is one among the four Congress leaders charged with abetment to suicide in the death of Wayanad DCC treasurer N M Vijayan.

"As a people's representative, I am not absconding. This is part of a conspiracy orchestrated by the CPM, which has targeted me for years. I will return to Wayanad soon," Balakrishnan told media via a voice message.
