Kochi: The Kerala High Court directed CPM State Secretary MV Govindan and other leaders, including Kadakampally Surendran, to appear in court in connection with a case regarding the blocking of roads for a party conference in Vanchiyoor, Thiruvananthapuram.
The court observed that the incident at Vanchiyoor was not part of any protest. It also noted that the media reports such practices daily, and they cannot be taken lightly. The action was initiated based on a contempt of court petition related to the CPM Vanchiyoor conference.
On December 5, CPM activists held a meeting, blocking the Uppidamoodu-Vanchiyoor road and obstructing pedestrians and vehicles. Despite police orders to disband, the group refused to disperse. In this incident, the Vanchiyoor Police registered a case for obstructing traffic by erecting a stage and conducting a rally. The meeting took place right in front of the Thiruvananthapuram District Court.
