Wayanad: Police have intensified the investigation into the suicide note of N M Vijayan, who was the treasurer of the Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC). A scientific examination will be conducted to determine whether Vijayan himself wrote the letter. Meanwhile, Wayanad DCC President N D Appachan and Bathery MLA I C Balakrishnan claimed the note was forged.
If confirmed that Vijayan wrote the letter, charges, including abetment to suicide, will be filed against the leaders mentioned. Authorities will also question those named in the letter.
A police team led by the Bathery DySP and another team under Vigilance DySP Shaji Varghese are examining the circumstances of the suicide and Vijayan’s financial transactions.
The recovered letter contains serious allegations against Congress leaders. Vijayan accuses MLA I C Balakrishnan of accepting money to secure appointments. He claims that when his financial liabilities mounted, no one offered him support. He further alleges that disputes over sharing money among three DCC presidents were the root cause of the crisis.
The letter details that Vijayan borrowed Rs 7 lakh under the direction of MLA I C Balakrishnan. Only Rs 2 lakh was repaid, leaving him with a Rs 5 lakh liability.
He also states that he provided collateral for Rs 10 lakh borrowed by N D Appachan, which led to a legal case. Following the cancellation of appointments, Vijayan took loans to repay the money, which escalated his debt to Rs 65 lakh. The letter outlines these revelations and other claims.
