Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association (KGMOA), Thiruvananthapuram district branch withdrew the decision not to turn up for duty at state school arts festival venues. In a press note issued by the association, the office bearers said that they held talks with the Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, and they have received assurance that their demands would be met. The press note said that KGMOA would cooperate with medical duties assigned as part of the state school arts festival. 

The government doctors earlier declared non-cooperation and said that they would refrain from duty at festival venues. The decision was made due to ongoing resentment among the government doctors over the suspension of Dr D Nelson, a medical officer at the Aryanad Community Health Centre, for private practice on September 23. Although Nelson was reinstated at Adoor General Hospital on November 11, the KGMOA has demanded that he be transferred back to Aryanad.

The health department had to look for replacements from medical college hospitals and the National Health Mission.
