Thiruvananthapuram: The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court is set to deliver its verdict on the Sharon murder case on January 17. According to the case, the prime accused, Greeshma, invited her lover, Sharon Raj, to her home, where she poisoned him with a decoction. Sharon's refusal to end his relationship with Greeshma led to the crime.
The special public prosecutor argued that Greeshma was guilty of poisoning, murder, and misleading the investigation. The prosecutor also claimed that Greeshma's mother, Sindhu, and her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, were complicit in destroying evidence.
Greeshma had previously attempted to kill Sharon by poisoning a glass of juice, which she referred to as a 'juice challenge'. However, Sharon did not drink it entirely due to its bitterness. The defence contended that Greeshma had searched for paracetamol on Google before the 'juice challenge' due to a fever.
"Greeshma searched for information on suicide because of her suicidal tendencies. Sharon Raj consumed the decoction, which Greeshma had made for herself when she went to the bathroom and left her house shortly after," the defence argued.
The prosecution maintained that these claims were fabricated and that the charges against the accused were supported by digital, medical, and forensic evidence. Sharon Raj ingested the poison on October 10, 2022, and fell unconscious.
He passed away 11 days later in the ICU of the Medical College Hospital. The prosecution is relying on circumstantial evidence. Sharon's statement and his confession to his friend Rejin that Greeshma had cheated on him were pivotal in the case.
