Kozhikode: A Dubai-bound Air India Express flight (IX345) made an emergency landing at the Calicut International Airport (Karipur airport) due to a technical snag on Friday. The flight was scheduled for departure at 8.15 am and was to arrive in Dubai at 11.05 am. Soon after the flight took off, it made an emergency landing reportedly due to mechanical issues with the landing gear.
The pilot reported a glitch which prevented the landing gear from deploying and raised concerns about the aircraft's ability to land safely.
Upon identifying the problem, the flight crew promptly informed the Karipur airport authorities, leading to the issuance of an emergency alert. Emergency services were placed on standby as a precautionary measure.
All arrangements were made for emergency landing and the flight landed safely. All passengers and crew members onboard are safe, and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the malfunction. The passengers are currently waiting at the airport. Sources said that efforts are on to fix the glitch and resume the flight. The flight has been delayed by more than an hour.
