Kozhikode: The Crime Branch (CB) has frozen the bank accounts of Mohammed Shuhaib, the absconding Chief Operating Officer of the online tuition platform MS Solutions that allegedly leaked question papers for Class 10 and Plus One.
CB SP Moitheen Kutty told Onmanorama that two accounts in his name with the State Bank of India and Canara Bank in the Koduvally branches have been frozen.
The CB has issued a lookout circular against Shuhaib. The agency also raided his office and home and inspected the houses of a few of his relatives. As part of the investigation, the CB seized his laptop, mobile phone, and documents.
"The accused, Shuhaib, is absconding and has switched off his mobile phone. Since the investigation is progressing, more people may be added to the list of the accused.
"They might have received the help of education department officials. (If) so, we have to find out who the people are. Definitely, they have leaked the question papers; it was not a prediction," Moitheen Kutty said. Sources said one of the frozen accounts had Rs 24 lakh in it.
At present, Shuhaib is the sole accused in the case registered by the Crime Branch in Thiruvananthapuram. He has applied for anticipatory bail in the Kozhikode district court, expecting a possible arrest.
MS Solutions, which helps school students prepare for exams, 'predicted' questions for half-yearly exams for Class 10 and Plus One. The site showed most of the questions ahead of the exams, and the test papers given to the students also featured most of them.
