Thiruvananthapuram: A charred body was found inside an unfinished building of PA Aziz Engineering College in Karakulam, located on the Mullassery-Venkode Road in Nedumangad, on Tuesday. Police suspect that the remains belong to the college owner, E Mohammad Thaha (62), but a scientific examination is required to confirm the identity. The body has been sent to the Medical College mortuary for further investigation.

The Nedumangad police, probing the case, said they recovered a pair of spectacles, a shoe, and a mobile phone from the scene. A team has arrived to collect DNA samples to confirm the identity. Forensic experts and the cyber wing are also conducting examinations at the site.

The body, which was 95% charred, was found in a godown of a partially constructed building near the college amidst a heap of burnt tyres. It was found by a security staff member who noticed smoke rising from the hall in the morning. According to reports, two individuals visited the college the previous day and created a commotion over a cheque-related issue.
