Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan stated on Monday that veteran party member EP Jayarajan was removed from his position as LDF convenor due to shortcomings in his conduct. "Although the party attempted to address the issue and move forward, the controversies that arose during the election led to the decision to relieve him of the role," Govindan explained. He made these comments during the CPM district conference.

Govindan also mentioned that the recommendations for correcting the party's flaws, as outlined in a document, were not implemented in Thiruvananthapuram. "Had they been put into action, the situation involving Madhu Mullassery could have been avoided. He (Madhu) took the leaders on two types of tours – one for those who consumed alcohol and another for those who did not. Madhu came to meet the new district secretary with a suitcase full of perfumes and expensive clothes. It is a serious lapse that the party leadership was unaware of these developments," Govindan remarked.
Madhu Mullassery, the former Mangalapuram area secretary, was expelled for engaging in anti-party activities and later joined the BJP.
