Kozhikode: Veteran Malayalam writer and screenwriter MT Vasudevan Nair, who is hospitalized here, has shown slight improvement in his health condition, doctors said on Saturday. According to the medical team at Baby Memorial Hospital, the writer moved his legs and hands. He has started responding to medication better than Friday, added the doctors.

"Mr M T VASUDEVAN NAIR ‘s condition even though remains serious, however no further deterioration has been observed. There is a slight but positive response to the ongoing treatment regimen. The Medical team is closely monitoring the patient’s progress and will continue to provide updates as necessary," reads the medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Saturday..

The renowned writer was in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest. He is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

"At present, the patient is receiving intensive medical support to optimize cardiac function and stabilize vital parameters. The medical team is closely monitoring the situation and providing the best possible care. Further updates will be provided as appropriate," stated a medical bulletin issued on Friday.

The 91-year-old has been undergoing treatment for some time due to age-related ailments.

MT Vasudevan Nair, popularly known as MT, is a prolific and versatile writer in modern Malayalam literature, as well as a celebrated screenplay writer and film director. His major works include Naalukettu, Manju, Randamoozham, and Asuravithu. He has directed seven films and written the screenplay for around 54 films. In 1995, MT was conferred the Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honor in India, for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam literature.
