KAAPA case accused, friend held with MDMA in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A youth who was deported from the district under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA) was arrested for drug trafficking here on Saturday. KAAPA case accused Parakkanty Sultan Noor (23) from Cheruvannur and his friend Mohammed Ajmal (22) from Keezhvanappadam were nabbed from the former's house, said Nallalam police. The duo was apprehended in a joint inspection carried out by the City Crime Squad and the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF). The team also seized 34.415 grams of MDMA from the accused.
Meanwhile, the cops also arrested Sultan's brother Khaleefa Noor for attacking the officials to prevent the arrest.
Sultan was deported from the district for a year in April 2024 after verifying his continuous involvement in criminal activities. When notified about his visits to his house, the police planned a search in his house.
When they reached home, his brother Khaleefa blocked them by pelting stones at them. He also threatened a few officials. City crime squad officers Madhu and Vinod were injured in the attack. Later the police overpowered and apprehended him. Khaleefa is booked for preventing officers from doing their official duty and injuring them. Khaleefa is also facing charges of drug abuse.
The police said that the substance caught from their home was brought from Bengaluru to sell in retail ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Feroke assistant police commissioner Siddique ordered an inspection at the house of the accused based on a tip-off received by Special Branch Sub Inspectors Prabeesh and Sujith.
