Kozhikode: Kozhikode: Father of Youth Congress leader U C Ajmal collapsed while protesting his son's arrest for trespassing on KSEB property and manhandling the staff at Thiruvambadi here on Saturday.
Razak Ullattil and his wife protested in front of the KSEB section office by holding lit candles. Razak has been admitted to a private hospital.

Before Razak and his wife protested, the KSEB disconnected power supply to Ajmal's house as instructed by CMD Biju Prabhakar. Ajmal was arrested by the Thiruvambadi Police for assaulting an Assistant Engineer (AE) and four other employees.

Earlier, the Youth Congress Assembly Mandalam Committee staged a protest march alleging that KSEB was punishing the elderly parents and family members for Ajmal's actions. “Ajmal says that he only poured curry on the assistant engineer. Even though we don't support that, there must be clarity on the allegations from both sides,” said Dishal, president of the youth congress' assembly committee.

Saturday morning, Ajmal came into the KSEB office questioning the case lodged against him for allegedly assaulting a lineman. He allegedly manhandled AE Prasanth P S and smashed the chairs and computers inside the office.

He was overpowered by the office staff and Thiruvambadi Police took him into custody. As the computers were smashed, the office work was halted. The consumers who came to pay electricity bills had to return.

It was on Friday evening that P Prasanth, a lineman and a helper under the KSEB Thiruvambadi section, went to Ajmal's home to reconnect electricity as it was disconnected for two days due to a delay in payment of electricity bills. Provoked by the disconnection, Ajmal allegedly assaulted Prasanth and he was later admitted to Mukkom Government Hospital. The Assistant Engineer lodged a complaint against Ajmal following the assault on Friday.

Ajmal was the President of the Youth Congress Thiruvambadi Mandalam Committee. “He was removed from the post one and half months back as he was not cooperating with the Young India Campaign led by the State President Rahul Mankoottathil,” said YC leader Dishal.
