KSRTC opens first driving school, Rs 11,000 for car/bike combo classes

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) opened its first driving school at the state capital on Wednesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the facility located at the KSRTC Swift centre at Anayara.
Fee for two-wheeler and four-wheeler training is 40 per cent less than the private driving schools. sources said.

Only Rs 11,000 will be charged for learning car and two-wheeler as a combo course, officials said. If the applicants want to learn to drive only car, the fee is Rs 9,000. For the two-wheeler training, course fee is Rs 3,500. Inaugurating the driving school, Vijayan declared that applicants from the Scheduled Tribe category need not pay any fee.

KSRTC has decided to open 23 driving schools across the state to end the monopoly of private institutes in the sector. These centres would be operated close to the KSRTC depots in all districts. The state PSU has purchased a car, bike and a scooter to be used in training prospective drivers.
