Thiruvananthapuram: A woman and her nine-month-old infant died of burn injuries at Puthenthope on Tuesday.

Anju's son David was admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram in a critical condition but succumbed to injuries on Wednesday morning.

Raju Joseph and Anju married over a year and a half ago. Relatives, meanwhile, suspected  foul play in Anju's death. They alleged the husband took only the baby to the hospital and 'did not want to rescue the wife'.

Though preliminary reports suggested it was a case of death by suicide, police could not confirm it. The cops have begun an investigation in the case.
