Thiruvananthapuram: The police have filed a charge-sheet containing non-bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against noted dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi and two others in the case related to the assault on YouTuber Vijay P Nair.
The charge-sheet, submitted by the Thampanoor police before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court I, Thiruvananthapuram, was cleared by the court.
Bhagyalakshmi, Diya Sana and Sreelakshmi, the three accused in the case, have been charged with Sections 294 (B), 323, 452, 506 (1) and 34 of the IPC. They have been directed to appear before the court on December 22.
Earlier, the Thampanoor police had registered a case against Bhagyalakshmi and the others for allegedly attacking Vijay P Nair. The three women now face charges that could invite a prison sentence of up to seven years.
The three women had entered Nair's office, poured black oil on him and thrashed him for uploading a number of derogatory videos about women in social media.
Nair was arrested and his YouTube channel blocked by the Cyper wing of the Kerala Police soon after the incident last year.
The channel had a number of obscene and defamatory videos. The channel’s subscription skyrocketed after the incident. This forced the police to step in and shut it for public viewing.
