Cheruthoni: The reconstruction of the Cheruthoni Bridge, which was damaged when the Idukki dam was opened during the 2018 floods, will be inaugurated on Tuesday.
Two approach roads of 90 m each will also be constructed. There will be solar lights on the approach roads and on both sides of the bridge.
The central government has sanctioned Rs 23.87 crore towards the construction cost. The bridge will be 40 metres high and 120 metres long with three spans. The width will be 18 metres, including the sidewalks on both sides.
Handrail, crash barrier and a separate section for the differently-abled are the other features of the bridge. Two approach roads of 90 m each will also be constructed. There will be solar lights on the approach roads and on both sides of the bridge.
Madurai-based KS & Company is responsible for the construction.
