'Comrade holding red flag' killed Abhimanyu: Police

Kochi: A police team investigating the murder of Students Federation of India (SFI) leader Abhimanyu at the Maharaja's College has confirmed that first accused Muhammad had been advancing pro-Marxist viewpoints on the social media for the past few months. The Cherthala native went to the extent of claiming in public that he was a “comrade holding the red flag”.
Besides, the police have found his note expressing joy at the CPM victory in the state assembly bypoll held in Chengannur constituency in May.
Investigators have gathered that it was Muhammad who himself brought the killer gang to the campus, where he is a third-year Arabic degree student. Yet, it remains unclear as to why the Campus Front activist posed as pro-CPM.
Even Campus Front workers got confused about his new approach. Interestingly, Muhammad's social media account itself vanished as soon as the police cyber cell started inquiries about it after the murder of Abhimanyu early on July 2.

The police had started the probe on the assumption that an instant reaction arising from a dispute about wall space for writing graffiti had led to the murder. However, they later realised that there was an organised conspiracy and planning behind the crime. The police need to nab Muhammad to unravel the mystery.
It is understood that the SDPI activists under arrest have not been able to provide sufficient information.
