Kollam man nabbed at airport for smuggling gold

Thiruvananthapuram: Customs sleuths at the international airport here arrested a man for smuggling gold worth around Rs 40 lakh.
A Ali, a Kollam native, was nabbed with semi-liquid gold stuffed inside a special belt under his clothes while he arrived by an Air India flight from Dubai on Tuesday.
The officials said that the 158 sovereigns of gold was worth Rs 39.36 lakh.
Kerala has always been a preferred destination for gold smugglers who put to use its porous airports. Several cases of gold smuggling were reported from the Kochi airport in the recent times.
