Rimi TomyKochi: After news broke out that she was quizzed in connection with the actress attack case, singer-anchor Rimi Tomy has come forward denying any wrongdoing.
"As soon as I heard about the news, I telephoned Kavya Madhavan,” Rimi Tomy told Manorama News, avoiding an elaboration of the details of the conversation.
"I also sent a message to the victim actress. I have no personal issues with the young woman. Reports claiming otherwise are wrong," she explained, adding that she also spoke to Remya Nambeesan at a later point regarding the case.
Biz deals with Dileep?
The singer-anchor, who has also acted in a couple of movies, is a close friend of actor Dileep, an accused in the case, and his wife Kavya Madhavan. The police team had taken note of her ‘suspicious behavior’ after the attack on the actress came to light. Her financial sources and dealings had also been under the scanner.
"I have no business or financial deals with actor Dileep,' Rimi Tomy told Manorama News Thursday.
"If there were any financial deals, income tax department would have found it out. Two years ago, IT sleuths had raided my house, following which I had to file some amount in tax returns," she added.
Earlier there were reports of huge amounts of money deposited in the bank account of a young actress. However, Rimi Tomy sought to distance herself from such reports and asserted that no money was deposited in her bank account.
Admitting that the sleuths quizzed her on the 2010 and 2017 star shows held in the US where the other stars were also present, she denied allegations of any travel ban imposed upon her.
“The police themselves told me that the questioning was part of the investigation and that they didn't suspect my involvement in the case,” she added.
Sources said that the investigators waited as they thought questioning her before the interrogation of Dileep and Kavya would be of no use. Kavya and her mother Shyamala were interrogated Tuesday by a team led by ADGP B. Sandhya. As things stand, Kavya possibly be questioned again.
Dileep was arrested by the police on July 10 for hiring goons to abduct the actress and videotape the assault. He has been remanded in custody till August 8.
