Thiruvananthapuram: A young woman, who allegedly chopped off the genitals of a godman while resisting his rape attempt, has taken a U-turn and claimed that her lover had abused her with the promise of marriage. In a complaint filed at Pettah police station, the woman said her lover, Ayyappa Das, took money from her as well as from swami Gangeshananda.
She also claimed that she was not under anyone's control and that her friend was spreading false tales.
The law student's boyfriend, Ayyappadas, had recently filed a habeas corpus plea in the court, stating that the woman was missing.
The woman along with her mother also called on Gangeshananda, who is in hospital. They spoke for about 15 minutes and she broke down during the conversation. The self-styled godman then consoled the woman.
The court on Tuesday allowed the police to conduct lie detector test on the woman and asked her to be present in the court next Monday.
The case has witnessed many twists and turns since the incident occurred on May 18, with the woman changing her initial allegations and stating that the swami never misbehaved with her.
Swami's judicial custody ends on July 1.
