Renowned writer, poet and filmmaker Pritish Nandy passed away on Wednesday. He was 73. A distinguished figure in Indian literature, Nandy was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1977. Over his career, he made significant contributions as a poet, journalist, and media personality. He later founded Pritish Nandy Communications, a prominent media company. In the 1990s, he gained further recognition as the host of The Pritish Nandy Show on Doordarshan.

Tributes poured in from various quarters, including actor Anupam Kher, who shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter). Recalling their close friendship, Kher described Nandy as a "support system" and "great source of strength" during his early years in Mumbai's film industry. Kher also reminisced about the time Nandy surprised him by featuring him on the covers of Filmfare and The Illustrated Weekly.

Tributes also came from Filmfare, which expressed its condolences, stating, "Poet, writer, and filmmaker #PritishNandy has passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones during this difficult time."
